Eating animal protein can boost up the levels of uric acid, which can promote the development of kidney stones. A high-protein diet can also reduce the levels of urinary citrate, a compound found in urine that can prevent the kidney stones from forming.

Vitamin C Supplements

While dietary vitamin C is relatively safe, you should try to watch your intake of vitamin C supplements. Research shows that high doses of vitamin C supplements taken regularly can double the chances of developing kidney stones.
