Fasting Or Extreme Cleansing

Some people engage in fasting to cleanse the body of toxins. They also do it believing that it will help them lose weight. Fasting can only be effective for a few days. But if you make it into a habit, it can slow down your metabolism, making it harder for you to lose weight. When you body misses out in essential nutrients as what can happen while fasting, it can trigger your body to go into starvation mode. It slows down your metabolism since the body senses that you need to conserve what nutrients you may have. This includes storing whatever body fat it can store for survival.

Not Drinking Enough Water

A study indicates that people who drink 8 to 12 glasses a day burn calories faster than those who drink less. Dehydration seems to affect your body metabolism, making harder and harder for you to lose weight. This might be the case if you lose water when you exercise and fail to replenish it. Do not forget to drink at least eight glasses of water a day.

Sitting All Day

Even if you go to the gym to exercise for a half hour every day, and yet sit in your office for the rest of the day, you are still leading a sedentary lifestyle. It still can cause your body to lose muscle mass. The only way to maintain or improve muscle mass is if you increase your physical activity throughout the day and not just in the gym. Do not just sit still at the office, try going for walks or climbing the stairs during your break time. Add in some physical activity to keep your metabolism up all day.
